Silvie is learning that bravery does not always feel big or bold.

Sometimes bravery is asking for help. Sometimes it is trying again.
Sometimes it is believing that your voice matters, even when things feel hard.

Be Brave, Silvie is a heartfelt early chapter book for children who are growing into confidence, resilience, and self-trust one small brave step at a time.

Perfect for:

  • Young readers beginning chapter books
    Classroom read-alouds
  • School counselors and social-emotional learning
  • Families talking about courage, worry, friendship, and belonging

Why Readers Love Silvie

Silvie is relatable, thoughtful, and real. Her story gives children language for the brave moments they face every day: speaking up, navigating uncertainty, making new connections, and learning that they do not have to be fearless to be brave.

A story for every child learning to be brave.

Courage is not about never feeling nervous.
It is about discovering what is already strong inside you.

Be Brave, Silvie helps children see that bravery can be quiet, kind, uncertain, and still very real.

Bring Silvie to your classroom, library, or home.

Whether read independently or shared aloud, Be Brave, Silvie opens meaningful conversations about resilience, confidence, and the small choices that help children grow.

About the Author

Regina Loiko was once a teacher who dreamed up interesting ways to help her students learn. Now she helps leaders bring their wishes and dreams to life. As a child, just like Silvie, she would escape to a hidden stream, tucked beneath trees and surrounded by moss and ferns. On hot summer days, nothing felt better than dipping her toes into its cool, crystal-clear waters. She still loves the park and when she isn’t writing stories about brave adventurers, she’s probably off on a magical journey in the National Park near her home in Brecksville, Ohio having a magical adventure with her dog June Bug.

About the Illustrator

Linda Zust has been making art since childhood, inspired by her family and a grandfather who painted murals in Austria. After studying at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, she launched LAZ Studios and has spent over 30 years creating art. This is her third children’s book, illustrated with joy and heart from her peaceful farm in Richfield, Ohio, where nature and her grandchildren spark her creativity. Linda lives with her husband, Dan, on their peaceful farm in Richfield, Ohio, surrounded by nature and frequent visits from her five grandchildren. She finds endless inspiration for the worlds she creates on the page.
